Question

Answer

How do I sign up for Hill Day appointments with my members of Congress?

Our staff will make appointments for you based on the work and home addresses you provide. If you would like to schedule visits with members of Congress serving additional ZIP codes, please enter those into the section marked “Extra Requests” found within registration.

When is the registration deadline?

We encourage you to register as early as possible to get the best experience. Please keep the following dates in mind:

  • July 30 - Registration rates increase

  • August 23 - Last day to book a room in our hotel block

  • By September 3 - Cancellations eligible for refund

  • September 6 - deadline to register to have the best opportunity to be scheduled to meet with your member of Congress

Which airport is the best to fly into for the event?

The Washington, D.C., metropolitan area is served by three major airports: Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Baltimore/Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport (BWI). DCA is the closest to the Hyatt Regency, where the event will take place.

What does my registration include?

This year, NSSGA, NRMCA and NAPA are holding portions of this event together. Included sessions will thus depend on your registration type, as follows:

  • An NSSGA Full Event Pass includes all applicable committee meetings, all your scheduled meetings with members of Congress, keynote sessions, nightly receptions, hospitality suite access and the Board of Directors meeting. The ROCKPAC Chairmen's circle dinner is invitation only.
  • An NRMCA or NSSGA Hill Day Only Pass includes all hill day visits, applicable NRMCA briefings and meetings, and the Meet Your Hill Day Group session on Sep 25. It also includes breakfast and entry to the general session on Hill Day.
  • An NSSGA Guest/Spouse registration includes all receptions, hospitality suite access, hill day visits (if desired), and an optional activity TBA.

What is the cancellation/refund policy?

Cancellations, received in writing by September 3, will be refunded less a $100 fee. Cancellations after September 3 will not be eligible for a refund. Substitutions can be granted at any time. Please submit all cancellation/refund or substitution requests to meetings@nssga.org.

My NSSGA membership was not recognized/I do not see a member registrant type when attempting to register. Can you help?

There are a few possible reasons for this scenario:

  • Membership is validated by your email address. If you used an email address ending in @gmail.com, @hotmail.com, @yahoo.com, @aol.com, etc., your membership will not be recognized. You MUST use your work/company/professional email address when registering to get our member rates. If your company does not have its own email domain, please contact us and we can assist you. Guests can only use non-member company email addresses to get access to guest passes.

  • If you joined NSSGA recently (for the first time), we may not have you in our registration system yet. Please contact us and we will verify your membership and charge you the correct registration rate. If lag time causes you to be pushed into a later registration date, and consequently a higher registration price, we will honor the registration rate at the time you first contacted us.

  • Membership with NSSGA is on a company-level (i.e. if your company is a member, you, as an employee, by default are also a member). Your company's membership with NSSGA may have lapsed. You can always contact meetings@nssga.org to verify your company's membership status.

Which registrant type or package should I choose?

Most attendees will have a default registrant type based on your email address recognized in our system, which includes State Executives, Producer Members, M&S Members and students.

If you are not an employee of an NSSGA Member company, you would see the following registrant types as options: Speaker, Non-member, Guest/Spouse or NRMCA Hill Day.

  • The Guest/Spouse registrant type are only for non-industry guests or partners. If you work for a company in the aggregates industry, you are not eligible for this pass.
  • The Speaker registrant types are for any person pre-selected to speak at a session. These are often government workers, professional speakers, or subject matter experts.
  • The Non-member registrant type is available to those who work in the aggregates industry but whose company is not a member of NSSGA. This type still allows you to attend open committee meetings, meetings with members of Congress, keynote or breakout sessions and receptions. Closed committee meetings are not available to our non-member attendees.
  • NRMCA Hill Day package is for NRMCA members. This pass allows access to the Joint PAC reception on Wednesday evening and the Meet Your Hill Day Group session on Wednesday, September 25. On Thursday you have access to the Breakfast Buffet and general session, your scheduled visits with members of Congress on Thursday and the Hill Day reception following that. NRMCA may have their own briefing, TBA.

How do I know what to say to my members of congress?

You have the help and guidance of NSSGA’s, NAPA's and NRMCA's Government Affairs staff to help you prepare for Hill Day.

Prior to the start of the LPF, NSSGA will offer an in-depth webinar to provide you with the tools and knowledge you need to make a lasting impact with key members of Congress and their staff during Hill Day. This is a great opportunity to engage in the issues affecting stone, sand and gravel producers and to ensure our voice is heard by our elected representatives.

In addition, you will receive talking points to use in your conversations that will make your appointments meaningful and successful.  You can see a preview of our industry priorities on the Hill Day page.

What is the suggested attire?

For any functions held at the Hyatt hotel, we suggest business casual attire. For Capitol Hill Day, we suggest business attire as you will be meeting with members of Congress and/or their staff. Take a look at some pictures below from Hill Day, Committee Meetings & Receptions to get ideas:
