Gregory Hitz is a Vice President with Lampl Herbert Consultants. He works as a professional geologist and manages natural resource projects with a focus on geologic and environmental topics. Over his career, Gregory has presented complex science and technical issues to private clients, public officials and citizen audiences.
Hitz holds an undergraduate degree in Geological Sciences from Cleveland State University, a graduate degree in Environmental Sciences from Florida A&M University, and a Master of Business Administration from Florida State University. He is currently completing a doctoral degree in Environmental Science from Florida A&M University. Dissertation research focused on metagenomic analysis of microbial communities following exposure to crude oils across northern Gulf of Mexico estuary ecosystems. Hitz provides guest lectures on various environmental topics at The School of the Environment at Florida A&M University and serves as Courtesy Faculty in the Department of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Science at Florida State University, contributing to courses on assessment of geologic hazards and petroleum geology.
Hitz’ person interests currently include dark sky photography, on-road and off-road motorcycles, and long-term performance of US-based equity markets.
