Asset Condition Monitoring in Aggregates - Improving Productivity, Operations and Employee Safety
Description
Over the last five (5) years, advances in wireless sensor technology have increased the viability of condition monitoring systems while significantly lowering the cost of entry. These systems have proven themselves to be a tremendous value-add for aggregate producers. By continuously monitoring and communicating temperature and vibration conditions, digital sensors can help to predict untimely and imminent failures of critical equipment before an unscheduled shutdown occurs. Doing so, producers can capitalize on downtime avoidance, saving on costs and maximizing the useful service life of equipment; all while enabling employees to operate safely and more efficiently. By examining real world implementations of wireless sensor technologies, we will examine how systems were planned, budgeted, and implemented, and how these systems have made operations safer, more dependable, more productive and avoided unplanned downtime.
